2021 special working days, no premium pay
- A special working day does not result in premium pay when work is done, unlike on a special non-working day.
Applicable laws, regulations
A special working day is a day usually marked to commemorate an event, a local hero or outstanding person, and similar occasions.
No premium pay
Under labor law, a special working day is treated similarly as a regular working day. Thus, no premium pay is due should there be work performed on a special working day.
In contrast, a special non-working day requires payment of premium pay in addition to the day’s salary should there be work performed.
For 2021: November 2, December 24, December 31
Pursuant to Proclamation No. 1107, Series of 2021, the following days have been declared to be special working days: (a) November 2 (All Souls’ Day), (b) December 24 (Christmas Eve), and (c) December 31 (New Year’s Eve).
Accordingly, these three special non-working day shall be treated as any other regular working day. No premium pay is due should work be performed.
